Sunday 23rd May 2010 – Thrapston to Gatwick
I completed my blog about leaving for Egypt when I then heard Tina moving around upstairs. We started to pack the cases, had showers before having breakfast. As the weather has turned nice we ate our toast in the garden. I then drove to Kettering to buy a birthday card for Tina. Jill was at home when I got back so I sat in the garden for a while but soon came in as it was hot (not sure how I am going to cope in Egypt if it is too hot here and it’s only in the mid-twenties).
Abby and Luke left at lunchtime so we said our goodbyes, then shortly after they returned intending to go swimming with Matt, who promptly changed his mind. They left again and so we left around 2pm saying our goodbyes to Matt. We decided to stop off at Hemel to see Alan and Emma who had a card for Tina. We enjoyed a drink in the garden and a chat before setting off once again for Gatwick. The journey was uneventful and we arrived around 6.30pm.
After locating our hotel we drove to Horley where we found a pub (The Parsons Pig) in order to have dinner. Tina ordered fish and chips and I had my usual steak, jacket potato and peas.
We left around 7.30pm, found the hotel again and checked in.
The car is staying at the hotel for the week, so we booked it in, went to our room for an early night.
